Lee Feldmen’s Top 5 Movies of All Time – Virtual Happy Hour August 21

Published —

A few FCCMA Members gathered for Virtual Happy Hour on August 7 and discussed a variety of topics. These included current municipal challenges, catching up reunion style, and various current life events. At one point the conversation shifted to the Phillies Spring Training Stadium situation in Pinellas County. It may have been just a good excuse for us to talk about about baseball. Lee Feldman, seemingly quite confident on this topic, exclaimed his Top 3 Baseball movies of all time:

  1. For the Love of the Game
  2. The Natural
  3. Field of Dreams

Jill Silverboard immediately asked about Bull Durham and A League of Their Own, Major League and The Bad News Bears also got mentioned as we discussed notable baseball movies that came to mind. For the baseball buffs reading this, here is a list of the Best Baseball Movies of All Time – the order may be subjective, but most of the movies you remember should be there.

Debating Best and Worst Movies

We probably would have identified more great baseball movies if we didn’t get sidetracked with the worst Kevin Costner movie of all time. This is obviously Waterword, but The Postman also received consideration. Lee also about the best Kevin Costner movie of all time, which received a quick response of Dances with Wolves and not much debate. No Way Out did get a mention. In hindsight, there are probably others we could have brought up.

“We should discuss our Top 5 Movies of all time at a upcoming Happy Hour”

Lee Feldman

This off the cuff conversation was fun, but I think it left Lee wanting for a more detailed discussion, because he suggested, “We should discuss our Top 5 Movies of all time at a upcoming Happy Hour”. It seemed to be a bit of a challenge, like the gauntlet being thrown down by our past ICMA president – a challenge to see who is capable of putting together a worthy list.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!!

The group assembled agreed to reconvene for another Virtual Happy Hour on August 21 at 5:30pm to share our list. We welcome others to join us, just be prepared with your top 5 movies of all time (which means, be ready to defend that list to potential scrutiny). It’s all great fun and a worthy idea, thanks Lee. for suggesting it.
