Why This Conversation Matters

City and County Managers are navigating pressure from every direction — expectations are rising, trust is fragile, and teams are stretched thin.

The World Happiness Report 2025 reveals sobering truths about well-being, trust, and connection in our communities. But this isn’t just global data — it reflects the lived experiences of public leaders and their teams right now.

This Think Tank session offers space to ask:

  • What does this data mean for my leadership?

  • How is my staff’s experience connected to it?

  • What can we do to influence a more hopeful future?

The value of this Think Tank isn’t just the questions — it’s hearing how your peers are answering them.

Questions We’ll Explore Together
This session isn’t a webinar. It’s a guided peer conversation built around real data—and real challenges. You’ll hear how other City & County Managers are responding to the same questions you’re asking yourself:

Why do so many younger employees report having no one to rely on—and how is that loneliness showing up in your culture?

In 2023, 19% of young adults worldwide reported having no one they could count on. That disconnect doesn’t stay outside your organization—it walks through the front door every day.

What do staff really believe about leadership’s values—and how does that belief shape trust, retention, and morale?

The report shows a direct link between perceived kindness in leadership and national wellbeing. The perception matters as much as the reality.

Could a lack of social connection be driving performance issues you’re misattributing to skill gaps or attitude?

Shared meals and small acts of giving have happiness impacts comparable to job security. But most workplaces prioritize neither.

And the most important question: What are your peers doing about it—and what might you try, once you hear what’s working for them?

Participation Requirements & Recognition

Who This Is For

This Think Tank is limited to 12 participants and is designed exclusively for:

  • Current Chief Administrative Officers in local government (City Managers, County Administrators, or their equivalents)

  • Leaders actively navigating internal culture, trust, and public engagement

  • Executives ready to engage, share, and learn with equal generosity

What’s Expected

To ensure a high-impact conversation for all involved, participants must:

  • Attend the full session (Wednesday, April 16 | 2:00–3:30 PM Eastern)

  • Be willing to share reflections and real-world context

  • Embrace the opportunity to contribute to a peer-led learning experience

  • Commit to follow up with one action or insight to share with their team or community

How You’ll Be Recognized
  • The 12 selected participants will be included in a featured LinkedIn post from Imagine That Performance, recognizing this national leadership conversation.
  • You’ll receive an opportunity to share one or more #thinktankinsights at the conclusion of the session—spotlighting your commitment to values-based leadership.
  • This invitation-only session offers a moment of reflection, connection, and optional public recognition for leaders advancing trust and well-being in their communities.

The World Happiness Report tells us what our communities need. This Think Tank highlights the leaders who are ready to explore what that means in practice.

What You’ll Walk Away With

  • A deeper understanding of how happiness, trust, and leadership intersect
  • One actionable insight you can bring back to your team immediately
  • A rare opportunity to connect with other City & County Managers facing similar challenges
  • A fresh perspective on how data can drive human-centered public service

The most powerful insights in every Think Tank don’t come from me—they come from the leaders in the room. When a City or County Manager hears someone else say, ‘We’re struggling with that too,’ it creates the kind of clarity, courage, and connection no training or report ever could.
